2005 Friendship Day
09 Aug 2005
Dear Friend,Who says politicians don't get anything done? I'd say the US congressmen of 1935 did pretty well when they proclaimed every first sunday of August as National Friendship Day. Friendship is one of the nicest things on planet earth and it's just as well that there's a day we can celebrate it!
How I wish that the kind of friendship in our nation, in our world, would be the kind that extends to every soul - young, old, rich, poor, smart, not-so smart, fat, thin... and would not exclude anyone. That it would be a friendship not for a few but for the common good.
Is your heart open to new friendships? Do you keep in touch with old friends? Each person is a gift. There's a saying that goes "Gather new friends but keep the old, for those are silver, and these are gold." How about you? What will you do this Friendship Day?
Happy Friendship Day! - August 7, 2005

(kayth): a Scottish word which means healing through simple sharing and togetherness. A heartwarming foundation finds its new home at Korben Place, Papemelroti's main office building. This group brings joy and caring service to children with cancer. Volunteers (anyone like you and me) help by spending time with the kids at the hospital, entertaining them with bedside play - story-telling, arts, feeding etc. It's one of the most rewarding ways to spend your afternoon!
