Creative Faith Journaling Workshop
Journaling is being used nowadays in many fields of discipline: creative writing, technical and scientific research, medical and nursing practice, in psychotherapy as a tool for self- discovery and emotional healing… Many use it to record their dreams, hopes, goals and accomplishments.
Holy men and women through the years have used journals to record their deep religious experiences. This has helped them keep a record of their faith journey and to discover and understand the work of God in their life.
Journal - preferably spring or ring bound or sewn, (not perfect binding because when you attach pictures and embellishment and notebook will be thick, pages may fall out)
Mae currently does part-time community-building work for The Sword of the Spirit Asian Region where she does training and formation of leaders and Christian community culture in the Philippines and India. Mae also does life coaching where she puts to good use her counseling, teaching, training and spiritual competencies. She runs at different seasons of the year a program for college students to help them decide on a college degree that best fits their skills and interests.
A graduate of Interior Design from the University of the Philippines, she can always be found in her craft room making collages, scrapbook layouts, Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), and thinking of ways to re-use things normal people would throw away. Her favorite techniques are collage and crayola etching, which she says are most forgiving of mistakes.

"I thought before that journaling wasn't "my thing". I found it hard writing down what I hear from or what I want to say to the Lord. Maybe, because I felt like they had to be done "nicely and properly" - with correct tenses, grammar and all. But I realized that what was most important was that I remember our conversations together and feel renewed and strengthened by them. Creative Journaling is the answer to my prayer! I can draw, stamp around, make a collage out of whatever I heard God tell me. I find it enjoyable and in a way "liberating" to do my journal now. And looking through "all the art" makes it easier for me to recall His words and in a glance see my journey with Him throughout all these years!" - Dr. Marichu Pilapil
Legaspi People Development Consulting offered a half- day workshop on Creative Spiritual Journaling last November 15, 2008 at the Manresa Retreat House in Quezon City. Mae Legaspi, the Managing Consultant of Legaspi People Development Consulting, spoke about Prayer as a Way to One’s Authentic Self, and Patsy Paterno, Managing Director of Papemelroti, shared her experience of journaling as a response in her dialogue with God. She also demonstrated several creative techniques in making journal entries that express what is in one’s heart.
