This October 13th is papemelroti's birthday! WE ARE 58 AND FAB!
58 years ago, a family got together and setup their very own store! The space was at the bottom of their modest apartment on Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City.
It's a good thing that the eldest daughter Patsy (the "PA" of PA-pemelroti), loved to document family events. She put together "The Family News" so we all could remember what happened that day.
THE FAMILY NEWS
The store began as a hobby of Corit Alejandro, the creative mom who loved to recycle plastic bottles into whimsical characters and old curtains into clothing.
Her husband Benny, who was working at the time, supported her as best as he could. He even brought her creations to work to sell to his officemates!
Together, they built up their knowledge and skills so they could offer unique items to their clientele.

In 1967, the store was called Korben - which was a combination of Corit and Benny Alejandro. It was only later that the children's names were used in the name "papemelroti".
Today, that mom-and-pop store has grown into a chain of gift shops in the metro and nearby provinces. It has retained its homey qualities with handmade and eco-friendly products designed by family members and crafted by local artisans.
We strive to make our patrons smile with quality Philippine craftsmanship that hopefully impart a lot of goodness into their lives!
In the coming years, may we be true to our slogan, "hands to work, hearts to God".
